POSITION DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Community Advocate
Reports to: Co-Executive Director
Purpose & Scope: Compaeros: Four Corners Immigrant Resource Center is seeking qualified
candidates for a Community Advocate position, beginning in Summer 2025. This position will
serve as a key frontline staff member through direct service, administrative support, and public
advocacy. The Community Advocate is responsible for receiving clients, conducting intakes,
providing culturally competent resource navigation, and handling day-to-day casework. In
addition, this position supports outreach, community engagement, and partnership-building
efforts that strengthen the visibility and impact of Compaeros mission. The ideal candidate is
bilingual in Spanish/English, community-driven, and committed to advancing immigrant justice
and equity in Southwest Colorado.
Position Responsibilities
1) Direct Client Services & Case Management
a. Receive and schedule client appointments and walk-ins.
b. Provide resource navigation and case management support to immigrant clients including help with public services, housing, employment, and immigration
referrals.
c. Maintain accurate and confidential client records, including case notes, intake
forms, and referrals.
d. Serve as a trusted point of contact for community members seeking support.
e. Follow up with clients to ensure services are delivered effectively and
consistently.
2) Community Engagement & Advocacy
a. Build and maintain relationships with local organizations, service providers, and
government entities.
b. Participate in or lead outreach efforts, community events, and workshops that
connect Compaeros with immigrant communities.
c. Promote civic engagement, self-advocacy, and leadership development within
the immigrant community.
d. Help identify systemic barriers and community needs, and elevate them through
organizational advocacy efforts.

3) Administrative Support
a. Support day-to-day office operations, including reception duties, data entry, and
general organization.
b. Assist with the development and distribution of outreach materials and social
media content.
c. Help manage office supplies and support logistics for events and programming.
d. Contribute to organizational reporting and evaluation efforts.
Desired Qualifications
1. Bilingual in English and Spanish (verbal and written proficiency required).
2. Experience in community advocacy, outreach, case management, or related work.
3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work across cultural and
language differences.
4. Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a
team.
5. Familiarity with issues facing immigrant communities, particularly in rural areas.
6. Proficiency in Google Suite, Zoom, Microsoft Office, and social media platforms.
7. Must have reliable transportation for work-related activities.
Hours and Location
This is a part-time hourly position that has the potential to become full-time depending on job
performance. It involves primarily in-person work out of the Compaeros office in Durango, with
some flexibility for remote work. The hours of this position will mostly be during standard
working hours with occasional work outside of standard hours for community events and
meetings.
Salary and Benefits
$20-24/hr, depending on experience. 25-30 hours of work per week. Health insurance coverage,
dental and vision stipend, retirement contribution after 6 months, and stipend for technology and
communications costs.
