Description:

  • The Community you will join: Public Policy campaign team exists to further the interests of our community of hosts and guests with politicians, regulators, opinion leaders and others who shape the political and regulatory context for our business, helping them to understand the significant social and economic contributions of our platform.
  • We engage governments at local, state, provincial and national levels directly and also use innovative advocacy and partnership strategies that actively involve our community and stakeholders in making the case for fair, progressive home sharing rules.
  • The Difference You Will Make: The Advocacy team is the rapid response, political mobilization, and policy advocacy team within the broader public policy team, dedicated to engaging our host and guest community in the regulatory conversation around short-term rentals.
  • The Advocacy team maintains an integrated approach to organizing, utilizing both digital tactics and proven best practices of low-touch community organizing, to inspire our hosts and guests to take political action. The Advocacy team operates in close coordination with Public Policy stakeholders to influence active legislation, connect our community with lawmakers, drive strategic partnerships and federal initiatives, and support broader department priorities.

Duties:

  • Focus mobilizing the community, building relationships with advocates, holding a series of in-person events, recruiting and training advocates for political action
  • Work in close collaboration with the Advocacy team and regional Public Policy team to develop and execute community activation strategies
  • Use online and offline tools to engage, recruit, and inform the community to drive political actions
  • Report organizing progress and event results on a regular basis
  • Mobilize community members through a variety of digital and in-person channels, including web, email, and video conferencing
  • Engage in relational organizing with the community and members of short-term rental advocacy organizations to maximize the impact of our community in public forums and conversations with lawmakers
  • Plan and execute in-person events to educate advocates
  • Maintain high level of professionalism and flexibility to support a wide variety of department goals

Requirements:

  • 1 - 3 years of professional experience in community organizing within political campaigns, technology companies, or grassroots organizations
  • 1 - 3 years experience planning and executing campaign events focused on grassroots advocacy
  • Demonstrated efficiency in recruiting, training and developing campaign advocates to take effective political action
  • Intermediate knowledge and proficiency in various aspects of grassroots advocacy, including digital organizing, community mobilization, volunteer recruitment, leadership development, and training facilitation
  • Basic knowledge and experience writing and producing email campaigns
  • Experience with grassroots organizing systems/political campaign management tools (i.e., VAN, Salesforce), email client tools, event marketing platforms, cloud productivity apps (i.e.,. Google apps), virtual conference apps
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external teams and stakeholders
  • Creative mindset with the ability to problem solve, manage multiple concurrent projects, and work cross-functionally with a variety of stakeholders in a, fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to travel across the five boroughs for work related events on a regular basis
  • Personal integrity that reflects our core values and commitment to diversity and belonging

Compensation:

  • $22- 25/hr W-2
