Job Description

A dedicated Occupational Therapist (OT) with expertise in early childhood is needed to support children ages 2-5 in an early intervention setting. This contract role offers the opportunity to deliver comprehensive occupational therapy services aimed at fostering communication, motor skills, and independence in young learners within the classroom and community environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess fine motor, visual-motor, sensory processing, self-regulation, and daily living skills of students.
• Develop and implement individualized therapy plans and goals as part of the Individualized Education Program (IEP) team.
• Provide direct and consultative occupational therapy services in classroom, small group, or individual settings.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to integrate developmentally appropriate strategies into daily routines.
• Monitor, document, and report student progress in compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Participate in evaluations, eligibility determinations, IEP meetings, and transition planning.
• Engage with parents/guardians to promote skill development at home and in the community.
• Encourage student independence and access to curriculum and learning environments.

Qualifications:

• Masters degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
• Valid state Occupational Therapist license and/or registration through NBCOT.
• Certification through the State Department of Education (if required for school-based practice).
• Experience working with early childhood populations, especially children with developmental delays or disabilities, preferred.
• Strong knowledge of sensory integration, motor development, and play-based interventions.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and time management skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Understanding of IDEA, early childhood special education practices, and inclusive classroom models.
• Familiarity with assistive technology and adaptive equipment for preschool settings.
• Bilingual abilities are a plus.
• Experience in school-based or pediatric environments is desirable.
