The Role You’ll Play

As our General Manager, you will be a strategic leader directly responsible for the performance and profitability of the City of Industry manufacturing facility. You will report directly to the Chief Operations Officer with dotted line reporting into the Chief Sales Officer. The scope of your responsibilities include leading and providing strategic direction to the daily operational efficiency and effectiveness for the facility, driving sales and revenue growth for the location. As our site leader, you are passionate about talent development, operational excellence, continuous improvement, developing manufacturing strategies and will be dedicated to Golden West’s profitable business growth strategies.

What You’ll Do

  • Full responsibility for the performance and profitability of the facility. Oversees Manufacturing and Sales process, which includes year-over-year (YOY) continuous improvement in the areas of safety, quality, productivity, reliability, and cost reduction.
  • Accountable for the location’s profitability; identifies, establishes, and tracks against key performance indicators and metrics to effectively monitor, assess, and continuously improve performance results against quality, production costs, operation efficiencies, and delivery /service measurements.
  • Provides effective leadership of all team members to engage, develop, and retain talent through effective communications, coaching, performance management, recognition, and implementation of performance excellence processes and methodologies.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with key clients and prospects. Understands customer needs and resolves customer concerns promptly to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Leads the efforts to establish, institutionalize, and maintain appropriate Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), effective on-the-job training processes and programs, and manufacturing and production methods and procedures that ensure team members in all areas of responsibility are properly trained and have the information and the tools needed to be successful in their respective roles.
  • Collaborate with other functional teams and functional leaders to identify product and service solutions to increase customer satisfaction and support the Organization’s sustainable growth strategies.
  • Develops and executes strategic plans to capitalize on market trends. Conducts market research to identify trends, opportunities and potential threats.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained to successfully meet/exceed internal/external customer production demands and needs while also effectively managing direct and indirect labor costs.
  • Effectively lead and track against operational expenses and budgets to ensure proper allocation of Company resources
  • Develop and implement business plans that align with the company goals and overall strategic vision.

What You’ll Need

  • Solid people leadership and management skills and competencies that demonstrate effective coaching and performance management using data-based decision making, management though objectives, and the use of KPI’s and production performance metrics
  • Expert knowledge and understanding of manufacturing operations management tools, methodologies, processes, and systems such as lean manufacturing
  • Demonstrated effective communication, negotiation and problem solving skills
  • Ability to operate with customers’ and employees’ best interest in mind
  • Proven analytical, problem-solving, and strategic planning skills.
  • Strong collaboration, interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Proven ability to effectively manage, train, coach, and develop direct reports/team members
  • Solid team development and team leadership with effective talent identification, talent performance management skills and capabilities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of P&L, capital budgets, and analyzing financial data

Education, Work Experience, Personal Attributes

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent proven work experience, MBA a plus.
  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing people leadership including proven experience in sales leadership within the packaging industry.
  • Strong understanding of corrugated packaging/corrugated manufacturing, display and folding carton markets, products, and industry trends.
  • In-depth understanding of and experience with successful implementation of lean methodologies, quantifiable metrics, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for managing and leading manufacturing and operational performance.
  • Have a proven track record of goal setting and achievement and demonstrated ability to build, lead, and motivate diverse teams. Ability to facilitate the development of others’ knowledge and skills.
  • Experienced in the creation, implementation and management of preventive maintenance programs and processes that minimize unscheduled downtime, optimize equipment capacity/utilization, and are cost effective

Compensation:

The expected base salary range is $190,000–$230,000+ per year (plus bonus opportunity), depending on skills, experience, and education. Candidates with extensive corrugated manufacturing operations/sales leadership experience outside this range are encouraged to apply.

Final compensation will reflect internal equity considerations and allow for future salary growth.
