Job Description

HVAC Design Engineer

Full-Time | $80K–$100K/year | Benefits Included

Summary:

Seeking an experienced HVAC Design Engineer to support both new product development and sustaining engineering projects. This role involves designing, testing, and refining HVAC systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and applying innovative solutions to improve product performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop HVAC systems from concept through production, including generating detailed engineering documentation (schematics, P&IDs, BOMs, sequences of operation, etc.).
  • Perform thermodynamic modeling and refrigeration system analysis to select components such as compressors, heat transfer coils, expansion devices, and air-moving equipment.
  • Support product testing, analyze results, and refine designs as needed.
  • Collaborate with sales, service, and manufacturing teams to meet performance, cost, and production goals.
  • Evaluate field installations, recommend design improvements, and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Research new technologies and maintain up-to-date knowledge of HVAC advancements.
  • Participate in vendor meetings and cross-departmental project discussions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Design Engineering required.
  • 5–8 years of experience in HVAC system design and electrical circuitry.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Experience using supplier design software for component specification.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and materials.
  • Ability to read and create detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and communication skills.
  • Occasional travel (domestic and international) and after-hours work may be required during testing or project deadlines.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs occasionally and work in both office and manufacturing environments.
