Job Description

Our client is a leading innovator in smart irrigation technologies, developing cutting-edge solutions for sustainable water use across residential, commercial, and industrial markets. As they continue to expand their new product introductions, they are seeking a skilled and passionate Lead Quality Assurance Engineer to join their team. This individual will play a critical role in guiding QA efforts for advanced networked, standalone, and cloud-connected devices. The selected candidate will mentor teams, champion best practices, and lead critical quality initiatives across multiple platforms.

This opportunity is ideal for someone with a hands-on mindset and a drive to contribute to environmentally impactful technologies.

What YOU get to DO at this growing company:

  • Serve as the lead QA representative across multiple engineering projects and platform teams.
  • Develop, review, and oversee test strategies, plans, and test cases for both new development and ongoing product support.
  • Monitor and analyze manual and automated test results, providing actionable feedback for release readiness.
  • Collaborate with local and offshore QA teams, providing mentorship and ensuring alignment on project milestones.
  • Champion quality and Design for Testability (DFT) across all stages of development.
  • Manage daily activities and resource planning for distributed QA teams.
  • Communicate testing progress, risks, and outcomes clearly to cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Advocate for QA in product promotion and release readiness decisions.
  • Deepen product knowledge across a wide range of offerings and ensure test coverage and traceability.
  • Lead offshore team meetings, coordinate test tool usage, and continuously improve QA systems and processes.

What you NEED to SUCCEED in this challenging role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronic, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field—or equivalent experience.
  • 9+ years of experience in engineering development environments with complex products.
  • Proven track record managing QA/testing of software and embedded hardware systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Jira and Zephyr (or similar tools) for defect tracking, planning, and reporting.
  • Demonstrated leadership of remote/distributed QA teams.
  • Expertise in testing app-connected, cloud-based, or IoT devices.
  • Understanding of load and performance testing in cloud/IoT environments.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
  • Effective communicator with ability to present detailed test findings for decision-making.
  • Experience across full product lifecycle—from development through production and support.
  • Familiarity with both Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Experience integrating automated test environments and functional testing strategies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience administering test tools (e.g., Jira, Zephyr Scale/Enterprise).
  • Background in creating automated test scripts and systems.
  • Familiarity with code coverage analysis to enhance test depth and efficiency.
  • Scripting abilities in C#, Python, or similar languages.

What's in it for YOU?

  • Competitive compensation aligned with experience and seniority.
  • Impactful Work: Contribute directly to sustainability by enhancing smart, water-saving technologies.
  • Leadership Opportunity: Influence QA practices, tools, and product quality at a systems level.
  • Career Growth: Collaborate with engineering experts in a supportive, forward-thinking team environment.
  • Technical Challenges: Work on diverse connected hardware and software systems with complex testing needs.
