About The Job Hopper’s Hotel Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) team is responsible for integrating our proprietary fintech offerings with some of the largest travel companies in the world as well as our own direct-to-customer offerings. As such, the role is both B2C and B2B2C. Within this vertical, we construct systems and build fintech offerings to scale globally, managing how to evolve and innovate on current and new offerings, translating that to customer value and business value for Hopper as a whole. We're looking for a Senior Backend Developer to join our growing fintech team! You will have the opportunity to deliver a significant impact on one of the company's most critical roadmaps. Responsibilities Design, implement, deploy, and operate complex backend systems powering our integrations. Iterate on features in an agile manner using Scala (no prior experience required) and technologies like GCP, OpenAPI, BigQuery, Pub/Sub among others. Decide how to best build core systems within our microservices architecture. Collaborate with a diverse team, giving and receiving feedback for growth. Execute on big opportunities to help Hopper lead in the travel industry. Ideal Candidate Profile Bring leading industry techniques and technologies. Strong understanding of distributed systems and architectural decisions affecting performance and maintainability. Experience working in cross-functional teams with Product Managers, Data Scientists, Frontend Engineers, etc. Focus on quality, writing testable, scalable code. Proactive with minimal guidance, able to handle uncertainty and evolving goals. Prior cloud experience. Experience with Scala and its libraries. Travel or eCommerce experience is a plus.
